Hybrid Cloud Load Balancing
Modern enterprises leverage multiple cloud providers to avoid vendor lock-in, placing workloads where they are most cost-effective. Load balancing traffic across multiple independent cloud providers is incredibly complex.
Scenario 1 (Easy): The Multi-Cloud Web Cluster
The Challenge: You want to run your stateless web servers across AWS and Google Cloud simultaneously. You need a load balancer to distribute the traffic evenly.
The RasnuOS Solution:
- Unified Fleets: You group a server from AWS and a server from Google Cloud into a single RasnuOS Server Group.
- Dynamic Edge Routing: You designate a lightweight server on DigitalOcean as your primary Edge Load Balancer. The RasnuOS Control Plane automatically configures the Edge node to route traffic across the AWS and GCP nodes.
Scenario 2 (Hard): Autonomous Global Traffic Shedding
The Challenge: You run a global API with edge nodes in Tokyo, Frankfurt, and New York. A massive DDoS attack targets the Frankfurt data center, completely saturating its 10Gbps uplink. The server isn't just offline—the entire network pipe is clogged, meaning traditional health checks might falsely report the server as "intermittent," causing the load balancer to mistakenly send good traffic into a black hole.
The RasnuOS Solution:
- eBPF Network Telemetry: The RasnuOS Agent running on the Frankfurt server uses eBPF to monitor the raw network interface card (NIC). It detects the massive inbound packet flood instantly, long before the application-layer HTTP health checks begin failing.
- Proactive Traffic Shedding: The Agent alerts the Control Plane of the volumetric attack. The Control Plane instantly executes a Traffic Shedding protocol.
- Global Re-Routing: RasnuOS dynamically rewrites the configuration on the New York and Tokyo Edge Load Balancers, immediately removing Frankfurt from the upstream pools. Furthermore, it utilizes the Cloudflare API integration to shift global DNS traffic away from Europe, routing legitimate users to the surviving data centers before they even notice a slow page load.
