The Trust Model
Enterprise infrastructure requires absolute assurance that the systems managing it cannot be compromised. At RasnuOS, security is not an afterthought or an add-on layer; it is the fundamental physics of the platform.
Our entire architecture is designed around the Zero-Trust Principle. We assume that networks are inherently hostile and that centralized platforms are prime targets. To counter this, we developed a cryptographic trust model that protects your servers even if the control plane itself were ever compromised.
1. Outbound-Only mTLS
Traditional control panels require you to open a firewall port (usually Port 22 for SSH) so they can connect to your server. This exposes your server to the public internet, inviting brute-force attacks and zero-day exploits.
The RasnuOS Agent uses an outbound-only polling model:
- Your server's firewall can be strictly configured to block all inbound traffic.
- The agent establishes a secure, outbound HTTPS connection to the Control Plane.
- This connection is secured via Mutually Authenticated TLS (mTLS), meaning both the control plane and the agent verify each other's cryptographic certificates before speaking.
2. Cryptographic Payload Verification
When you request a deployment or a configuration change via the RasnuOS dashboard, the platform creates an "Intent" (a set of instructions).
- The backend cryptographically signs this intent using a private key specific to your organization.
- The agent fetches the signed intent.
- Before executing any command, the agent verifies the digital signature using the public key it generated locally during installation.
Why this matters: If a bad actor were to intercept the network traffic or even compromise the database of the control plane and attempt to inject a malicious bash script, the agent would reject it entirely because the cryptographic signature would be invalid.
3. Zero-SSH
Because the agent runs locally as a system daemon (or Windows service) and executes verified payloads natively, SSH is rendered obsolete.
By adopting RasnuOS, enterprises can completely disable SSH access across their fleet, eliminating one of the most common vectors for ransomware and unauthorized lateral movement in corporate networks.
4. Zero-Knowledge & Data Privacy
The fundamental architecture of RasnuOS is built on a Zero-Knowledge guarantee. We give you the management tools, but we are completely blind to your actual data.
- No Passwords or SSH Keys: Unlike legacy cloud panels, we never ask for your server's root password or SSH private keys. We physically do not have them.
- Your Data Remains Yours: The RasnuOS Agent only streams specific telemetry (CPU, RAM) and executes cryptographically signed intents. It never reads, indexes, or transmits your application source code, databases, or private customer files back to our control plane.
- Vault-Backed Encryption: Any environment variables or secrets you configure in the dashboard are encrypted at rest using a highly secure HashiCorp Vault Transit Secrets Engine. Our databases only store the ciphertext. Even if our engineers tried, it is mathematically impossible for us to read your keys.
5. The Open-Source Guarantee
The code that runs with elevated privileges on your infrastructure should never be a black box. The RasnuOS Agent is 100% open-source. Your internal security teams can audit the Go code, compile it from source, and ensure there are no backdoors or telemetry modules hidden within the binary.
