Disaster Recovery & Multi-Region Failover
In an enterprise environment, relying on a single cloud provider's availability zone is a catastrophic risk. If an entire data center goes offline, your application must survive. RasnuOS makes Multi-Region Disaster Recovery trivial because the Agent abstracts the underlying infrastructure.
Scenario 1 (Easy): The Simple Web Server Failover
The Challenge: You host a static corporate website on a single server in DigitalOcean (New York). If DigitalOcean experiences a network outage, your company's marketing site goes completely dark.
The RasnuOS Solution:
- Fleet Creation: You provision a secondary, cheap $5 instance on Vultr (London) and group both servers into a
Corporate WebsiteServer Group. - Automated Sync: RasnuOS uses a native background cron job to synchronize the static HTML assets between the two servers via an encrypted peer-to-peer Rsync tunnel.
- DNS Cutover: RasnuOS monitors the Health Checks. The millisecond the DigitalOcean node drops, RasnuOS updates your Cloudflare DNS records to route all traffic to the Vultr node.
Scenario 2 (Hard): Active-Active Stateful Database Failover
The Challenge: You run a massive eCommerce platform handling thousands of financial transactions per minute. Your primary PostgreSQL database is hosted on an expensive AWS EC2 instance. Setting up active-active failover between AWS and a secondary provider (like Google Cloud) usually requires custom BGP routing and massive Terraform complexity.
The RasnuOS Solution:
- Hybrid Provisioning: You provision the secondary bare-metal server in Google Cloud using RasnuOS's Server Templates, guaranteeing it has the exact identical OS kernel and Postgres version as the AWS instance.
- Native Streaming Replication: RasnuOS automatically configures PostgreSQL's Write-Ahead Log (WAL) streaming replication. The AWS node securely streams every single transaction, byte-for-byte, over the outbound mTLS tunnel to the Google Cloud node in real-time.
- Instant Promotion: When an AWS us-east-1 outage occurs, RasnuOS's AutoPilot acts autonomously. It drops the replication lock on the Google Cloud node, promoting it from a Read-Replica to the Primary Write Node within 3 seconds, and immediately shifts the global load balancer traffic. Zero transactions are lost.
